B visa in America – Short Stay for Business

B visa is provided to the foreign nationals who want to visit America for a short duration for business. It is a non-immigrant visa for the travelers who want to enter the United States for a temporary period.  This visa has different validity period for different nations. It can be from 1 year to 10 years with one or multiple entries and fixed period of stay in America.

For this visa, one must prove to the Consular officer of intention of returning to their nation after a certain period.

There are two types of this visa, B-1 and B-2. The duration of stay in B-1 visa is usually three months or less. In B-2, the duration of stay is six months and it can be extended. This period is long enough to complete their business in America.

B-1 can be used for these reasons:
  • consult with business associates
  • Negotiate or sign a contract
  • Purchase supplies or materials
  • Attend or hold business meetings, scientific or educational exhibit etc.
  • Settle an estate
  • To attend various exams and tests held inside the United States

B-2 can be used for these reasons:
  • Tourism and vacation within the America
  • Visit family, relatives or friends
  • To participate in any event organized by fraternal, social or service organization
  • Obtain medical treatment
